Key Responsibilities
Engineers are essential to our power generation business. During the scheme you will shape your career through delivering on key engineering projects across a variety of functions such as:
- Engineering support – e.g. working on pressure system life extension analysis , gas and steam turbine inspections, safety critical system plant evaluation and modification with the Asset Engineering and Asset Integrity Teams
- Power station maintenance – e.g. the day to day management of contractors , plant maintenance activities, non - destructive testing and pressure part inspections, with our Maintenance Teams
- Power station operations – e.g. a shift cycle in the control room of a CCGT power station, optimising the thermal efficiency of our power plant with the Operations Teams
- Commercial – e.g. evaluating the optimum time for a CCGT power station maintenance shutdown with our Asset Management Teams.
Spread over eighteen months your development will include: specialist technical and practical skills, behavioural, and health & safety training courses, with competency developing placements; supported by our engineering experts and training specialists.

Your base location will be one of our UK power stations, head office or engineering workshop during the programme you will have the opportunity to complete placements at some of our locations. On successful completion of the programme, we look forward to your application for an engineering role in one of our power stations, engineering support centres or sister companies.
