Ash products
RWE Power International supplies ash based products in accordance with the Quality Protocol for the following applications:
PFA based products – Bound and grout applications
We manufacture lightweight aggregate filler products based on Pulverised Fuel Ash according to BS EN13055 parts 1 and 2 suitable for use in the following applications:
- Hydraulically Bound Mixtures, for example, to form capping or pavement layers by stabilisation with lime or cement.
- Bitumen bound mixtures, for example, to form road base layers and surfacing.
- Concrete and other bound building products, for example, as a lightweight filler aggregate in blocks.
- Grout, for example, geotechnical grouting of caverns or redundant mine workings.
We also produce ash based products for a number of other manufacturing processes such as a component in mineral kiln feed for cement clinker manufacture.
PFA based products – Unbound applications
We manufacture a lightweight aggregate filler product based on Pulverised Fuel Ash for unbound applications according to BS EN 13055-2 and in accordance with the Specification for Highway Works (SHW) 600 series for the following applications:
- Engineering fill and landscaping, for example, embankment construction or raising of levels.
The products for unbound applications are produced in accordance with the latest EA Interim Regulatory Position for materials being considered under the Quality Protocol project. A Quality Protocol for unbound fill applications is expected to be launched by the end of 2011.
