Our corporate responsibility (CR) management is subject to continuous improvement. For many years now, RWE has featured in numerous sustainability-oriented ratings and rankings which rate our performance in both sustainable corporate governance and climate protection.
Dow Jones Sustainability Index
RWE has qualified for the global Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) for the 16th consecutive year. The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices are considered throughout the world to be a key set of indices of sustainable corporate governance and recognise the best in class in each sector.
Carbon Disclosure Project
The Carbon Disclosure Project is an alliance of large institutional investors who teamed up with the aim of making companies’ greenhouse gas emissions and climate change strategies transparent for the financial market.
RWE has been rated by the Investor Carbon Disclosure Project 2014 stronger than in the last years. RWE has been rated 2014 by a carbon disclosure score of 98 points out of 100 compared to our score of 93 points in 2013. In 2014, for the fifth time, all companies with a sufficiently high disclosure score received a performance band. The performance band is grouped into four bands from A (leader) to D. RWE achieved the highest performance band A and has been awarded with a position in the CDP Climate Performance Leadership Index 2014.
Good rating from vigeo
RWE is also represented in ASPI Eurozone (Advanced Sustainable Performance Indices), a group of indexes compiled by the French rating agency vigeo. It includes 120 European companies hand-picked by vigeo on the basis of their sustainability performance. In 2014, vigeo rated us better than the industry average or at least just as good on most scores.
Ninth place in Sustainalytics’ ranking of the DAX 30
The biennial ranking by Sustainalytics in February 2012 put RWE in ninth place among members of the DAX 30.
RWE in the Pacific Sustainability Index
The Roberts Environmental Center at Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, California, produces regular sustainability rankings based on the Pacific Sustainability Index (PSI). The PSI rates the sustainability reports of the world’s largest corporations as well as providing information on their sustainability performance. Up to 30 companies per sector, all of which count among the best of the Fortune 500, are subjected to regular scrutiny.
Top placement in the Good Company Ranking
Kirchhoff Consult AG has compiled its fourth Good Company Ranking since publishing its results in 2005, 2007 and 2009. This ranking takes a look at the 70 largest European companies’ commitment to corporate responsibility.RWE is ranked 25th of 70 companies. RWE leads the energy sector rating, coming in ahead of e.on and Statoil. Among DAX-listed companies, RWE is 16th in a field of 30.
13th place in sustainability report rankings
In the 2011 ranking of the sustainability reports of Germany's 50 largest corporations RWE achieved the thirteenth best score.
RWE in the Corporate Rating of oekom research
In its international CR rating 2013, oekom research awarded RWE a rating of C+, the same mark RWE received already in 2008 and 2011. Although RWE is still among the top fifty percent of the companies rated, its score was not enough for the Prime Standard, which requires a rating of B- or higher.
