Mature technologies and new paths – It’s all in the Mix.

Our portfolio comprises onshore and offshore wind farms as well as biomass-fuelled plants and hydroelectric power stations. We also have firm ambitions to build and operate plants with new technologies, such as tidal stream or biogas as well as solar thermal power plants.

We plan, build and operate plants to improve the CO2 balance of the Group and to secure the future energy supply of millions of people.

Onshore sites

RWE Innogy operates onshore wind farms in Germany, Great Britain, Spain Poland, Netherlands and Italy. Further information on our sites in operation and under construction can be found here.

Offshore sites

With Rhyl Flats and North Hoyle, we operate two of the largest offshore wind farms in the UK. We are currently building the offshore wind Nordsee Ost off the German coast and the 576 meagawatts wind farm Gwynt y Môr will be constructed off the Welsh coast.

Hydropower stations

RWE Innogy operates run-of-river and storage power stations in Europe. They draw their energy from rivers and work extremely reliably around the clock.

Biomass-fired power plants

In order to achieve the targets for cutting carbon emissions in Germany and in Europe as a whole, the use of biomass for power generation is essential. As a leading company in the local production of energy, we have had many years of experience in the construction and operation of facilities that use biomass for energy purposes.

Biogas sites

Nature is extremely diverse – and so are our aproaches to the production of biogas. It is important to select the optimum plant or the best substrate for each region – depending on soil conditions, water supply, climate and the specific characteristics of the local agriculture. Further information on our sites in operation and under construction can be found here.

Solar sites

RWE Innogy operates together with partners the solar thermal power plant Andasol 3 in Spain. Its 210,000 parabolic mirrors capture the sunlight and because of its thermal storage system Andasol 3 can generate electricity day and night.
