- "Industry Leader" for 2006 in the new category "Multi Utilities"
- Only German utility in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index since 1999; in the top group for the seventh time
RWE is the "Industry Leader" in the new market category "Multi Utilities" in the 2006
Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI). Fifteen companies in this category were evaluated worldwide, of which only two met the DJSI criteria. RWE is therefore among the world's leading enterprises when it comes to sustainable corporate management and business activity. RWE CEO Harry Roels commented: "We're very proud of our leading position.
It demonstrates that RWE's sustainability strategy is firmly established, and RWE has ranked among the leaders in its market sector for years."
RWE is the only German utility company to be represented continuously in the DJSI Indexes since the ranking was introduced in 1999. During recent years, the RWE Group has been working intensively on expanding and implementing a group-wide sustainability strategy, which is being pursued under the responsibility of the Group's Executive Board. Key components of the strategy are milestone projects and a transparent reporting process culminating in the publication of sustainability reports.
The Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes are determined and published by Sustainable Asset Management (SAM) Indexes GmbH, Zurich - a joint venture between Dow Jones and SAM. The DJSI Indexes are regarded as the most important and widely used index group for sustainable corporate management worldwide. The funds licensed according to DJSI criteria comprise a volume of more than €3 billion.
