“The Norwegian Petroleum Museum has served as an important display for the Norwegian oil industry ever since it opened in Stavanger in 1999. Therefore it is a natural and deliberate choice for RWE Dea to be a sponsor of the museum in this new agreement until 2016”, says Hans-Joachim Polk, Managing Director of RWE Dea Norge.
“The oil industry has played an important part in the development of Norwegian society and recent history, an adventure that RWE Dea has been part of for 40 years now. We find it important to increase the knowledge and understanding of the oil industry among the general public - we also contributed to the financing when the museum was originally built”, continues Polk.
Oil companies are important financial contributors to the museum, and RWE Dea is in good company, as several large enterprises support the museum. RWE Dea Norge has a broad license portfolio and recently made several interesting discoveries on the Norwegian shelf. The company is now about to establish itself as operator of fields in development and production.
“We particularly hope that the Norwegian Petroleum Museum inspires younger generations to a career associated with the oil and gas industry. The whole industry should engage itself in promoting knowledge and interest of the country’s most important sector amongst the Norwegian people. RWE Dea Norge is growing and relies on an increase in talented young engineers, geologists and geophysicists in the Norwegian recruitment market,” says Polk.
The Norwegian Petroleum Museum is a museum for everybody. Through explanations, interactive exhibitions, models and films it shows how oil and gas is explored and produced, and how it has an impact on society.
