High Credit Ratings

Creditworthiness checks by independent rating agencies have a substantial effect on a company's options for raising outside capital. The better the rating, the easier the access to international credit markets and the more affordable the borrowings.

The two leading international rating agencies, Moody's and Standard & Poor's, have been assessing RWE since 2000. On June 8, 2011, Standard & Poor's has changed its rating for RWE from "A, negative outlook" to "A-, negative outlook". Moody's has RWE classified as "A3, negative outlook" since 19 July 2011 (previously "A2, negative outlook").
