For the first time, RWE is affording its municipal customers an opportunity to participate in the construction of a new hard coal power station via a joint company. Twenty-six municipal utilities will have a total of 350 megawatts of the plant’s installed capacity at their disposal.

RWE has agreed to sell Thames Water Holdings plc ("Thames Water") to Kemble Water Limited, a consortium led by Macquarie’s European Infrastructure Funds. The transaction was approved today by the Management Board of RWE AG. It remains subject to approval by the Supervisory Board of RWE AG, who is due to meet during the coming weekend, and by relevant antitrust authorities. The transaction is expected to close by early December.

The Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) has approved the network fees for gas of the distribution system operator RWE Westfalen-Weser-Ems (WWE) Verteilnetz GmbH. In the notification, the network fees applied for are cut by just under 26 %. This is equivalent to a revenue decline in the double-digit millions for network usage fees which so far totalled approx. Euro 160 million.

Today, RWE Power submitted an application to the Federal Ministry for the Environment requesting approval for the transfer of electricity output to Block A of the Biblis nuclear power plant. The application was also filed with the Federal Chancellery and the Federal Ministry of Economics. The company intends to transfer 30 terawatt hours to the Biblis facility from the electricity allowance of RWE Power’s Mülheim-Kärlich nuclear power plant, which is being dismantled.
