Munich - In future, MTU and RWE are going to expand their fuel cell activities together. This is the content of a joint venture agreement concluded by MTU Friedrichshafen GmbH and RWE Fuel Cells GmbH, Essen, and which came into effect in July 2003 subject to approval by the EU antitrust authority.

In a meeting held yesterday, the Leipzig City Council approved the offer made by envia Mitteldeutsche Energie (enviaM) to have LW Leipziger Versorgungs- und Verkehrsgesellschaft mbh (LVV) acquire its 40% stake in Stadtwerke Leipzig GmbH.

RWE Gas AG, Dortmund, has acquired the 25% stake in Thyssengas GmbH,
Duisburg, held by Shell Petroleum N.V., The Hague, from Shell Petroleum. RWE
thereby has 100% ownership of the long-distance gas company, which has been
consolidated since 2002. Share ownership will be transferred with commercial
effect as of Jan. 1, 2003.

RWE Umwelt AG, Viersen, sold its subsidiary, Dollbergen-based Edelhoff Mineralöl GmbH (EMG Group), to AVISTA Dollbergen GmbH, a subsidiary of the Mustad International Group (Mustad Group), which is domiciled in Amsterdam, with retroactive effect as of January 1, 2003. Headquartered in Houston (TX/USA), the AVISTA Group is a cornerstone of the Mustad Group's used oil recycling business and operates used oil recycling plants in several countries.
