Raw Materials

In the beginning were the raw materials: Even at RWE, the value chain starts with raw material procurement. RWE operates large-scale opencast mines for lignite mining in the Rhenish coal-mining district, and production plants for crude oil and natural gas in numerous countries – even outside Europe.


Grids

Intelligent networks for safe and reliable energy supply: By planning, constructing, maintaining and operating the supply networks overseen by RWE, the company bears the responsibility for electricity and gas transport – indispensible for consumers and industry. And we constantly devote our own energy to greater innovation, such as the continued development of smart grids or the deployment of virtual power plants.


Sales

Professional and close to the customer: Across Germany, RWE supplies private and business customers as well as municipal utilities and regional suppliers with electricity, gas and water. Always, our focus is on staying close to the customer so we can deliver attractive products together with excellent service.


Strategy & Service

From accounting to civil law: Be it strategic corporate planning, inhouse consulting, SAP consulting, project management, IT or commercial activities – RWE has a lot to offer. In our portfolio for example, you’ll also find Group purchasing, real estate management and data protection, as well as financial, personnel, infrastructure and security services.


Power Generation

Power generation from a broad energy mix: In addition to conventional power plants, RWE operates a diverse portfolio of plants for renewable power generation. Domestic and international wind farm projects, both onshore and offshore, as well as hydroelectric and biomass power stations are a just a few examples.


Energy Trading

Energy trading as interface: Energy Trading is the hub for tradable raw materials like electricity, gas or coal, but also for emissions certificates and renewable energies. Energy Trading coordinates the economic optimization of the entire unregulated gas business of the RWE Group. Internationally connected, and with a keen sense for innovative trading products, the division forms the interface between production and sales.


Energy Efficiency

The energy efficiency principle: RWE develops efficient, cost-effective and environmentally compatible solutions and products. These include the continued development of electro-mobility products and the associated charging infrastructure, as well as the design and introduction of products for the intelligent control of home electrical and heating systems.
