RWE Dea AG is an international exploration and production company for oil and gas with headquarters in Hamburg, Germany. Our mission and goal is the exploration and production of these vital raw materials. To this end, we rely on our extensive geoscientific know-how, state-of-the-art drilling and production technology, and the experience gained during our 114-year corporate history. Safeguarding energy supplies with oil and gas

These two fuels have been the pillars of our prosperity and energy supplies since the 19^th century. In industrialised countries oil and gas are indispensable not just in economic terms but also for our private lives. In spite of the steady expansion of renewables, oil and gas will continue to be two of the most important sources of energy in the next few decades. Natural gas in particular is a fuel with a future. Operating internationally

RWE Dea has concessions, facilities and offices in 14 countries of the world. They include production facilities and concessions in Germany, the UK, Norway, Denmark and Egypt. Our production facilities in Algeria and Libya are currently under construction. We have exploration permits in Ireland, Mauritania, Poland, Trinidad & Tobago and Turkmenistan. And we also operate large underground gas-storage facilities in Germany.

Target recruitment

Well-qualified and highly motivated personnel are a key factor in the success of our growth strategy. That is why we attach great importance to targeted recruitment and systematic personnel development. At the end of December 2012, RWE Dea had the equivalent of 1,375 employees (in full-time position terms). Our workforce is becoming more and more multinational as a reflection of the increasingly international nature of our business. So at RWE Dea diversity is not a mere catchword but an expression of a successful personnel policy. The extraordinary engagement of our employees and their determination to master the major challenges they face in their work are securing the future of our business.

Successful partnerships

RWE Dea consistently invests in strategic partnerships. Without this kind of cooperation it would be impossible to finance the high levels of investment required in our industry. The state-of-the-art technologies needed to produce oil and gas from difficult-to-access regions cost a lot of money. And that is why we work closely and with full confidence – as an operator or licence partner ­– with a number of competent partners in many of our national and international on- and offshore projects. RWE Dea currently has stakes in about 190 licences or concessions – in almost half of them as operator.
