Monitoring and control systems for all parts of operations

Drilling and production work on the island as well as onshore operation of the Dieksand Land Station are controlled and constantly monitored round the clock by specialists using complex instrumentation and control systems. Multiple safeguards have been built into the safety engineering concept so that if one system fails, another one will automatically take over.

Should any system parameters deviate in the production area, for example, the crude oil pumps are automatically shut off.
The production wells are fitted with quick-action stop valves at a depth of 100 meters. During production, they are kept in the open position using hydraulic pressure of 200 bar. If pressure falls, the valves shut automatically. Additional shut-off valves fitted at the wellhead provide a further level of safety both against excessively low and/or high pressure.
