Büsum Dogger 1 well finds signs of oil, but not in commercially exploitable quantities.

1973

The initial oil price shock brings increased awareness of the significance of domestic energy supplies. The German oil production industry intensifies efforts to boost domestic production.

1979

Second wave of oil price increases shocks German public. Oil industry increases investment in exploration and production of domestic energy supplies.
