Pembroke Power Station

Pembroke Power Station is a combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant which began full commercial operation in September 2012.

The station is capable of generating over 2000MW, enough to power around 4 million homes - more than twice the number of households in Wales. The state-of-the-art CCGT technology means that Pembroke is one of the largest and most efficient plants of its kind in Europe and produces less than half the CO2 emissions than a coal-fired power station Its flexible technology means that Pembroke is able to respond quickly to the market to provide highly flexible and reliable power to meet the nation's demand.

The station is located to the west of the town of Pembroke, South West Wales, on the banks of Milford Haven. It is the second power station that RWE npower has constructed on the site – it previously hosted an oil-fired power station which operated for almost thirty years, from 1968 to its closure in 1999.
