Sustainable Business as a Challenge

Our business model is premised on long-term planning. When we invest in new power stations, renewables, grids and gas and oil production facilities, we have to plan not just years but whole decades ahead. The success of such long-term projects, however, depends on our ability to win acceptance for our actions in society at large.

This is the aim of our corporate responsibility (CR) strategy in which we address the challenges posed by our core business. It covers ten areas for action which categorise those topics and issues that constitute the greatest corporate responsibility challenges for us. Included among them are not just climate protection, energy efficiency and security of supply but also supply chain and demographic change. We have set ourselves at least one binding and measurable target for each of these areas.

You can find out more in our CR report 2011.
