RWE Research and Development - Strategy

Efficient, climate-friendly and intelligent – this describes the energy supply of the future. RWE is working towards this future with many projects at all stages in the value-adding chain. The research and development project portfolio is determined by the present and future requirements of our core business, energy.

RWE Research and Development – Goals

The goals of our research and development activities are derived from our corporate strategy: All activities are measured against the benefit for the environment and sparing use of resources, against security of supplies and – not least – the competitiveness of RWE. This is done by using uniform yardsticks throughout the Group. In addition, we bundle the individual competences of our Group companies in joint research tasks.

RWE Research and Development – From Basics to Application

RWE also inputs its experience into international cooperative projects and is engaged in a constant swap of experience with partners from the worlds of science and industry. For example, we are crucially helping shape the border-crossing work of the European technology platform on zero-emission fossil-fired power plants by providing several experts from the RWE Group.

Since our focus is on application-related Research and Development, our competences are complemented by the profiles geared to the scientific bases of our numerous cooperation partners at universities and public research facilities.

In this way, we  not only ensure the success of our projects, but also support universities and institutes with current research subjects and make a contribution toward qualified, close-to-practice training for junior scientists.
