Biomass: A versatile natural resource

Growing resources such as wood and energy crops play an ever-increasing role in the renewable production of energy. The electricity and heat gained from the solar energy stored in these plants is carbon-neutral. This is because during combustion, the plant releases as much CO2 as it originally absorbed from the atmosphere. We primarily rely on combined heat-and-power generation to tap this energy.

In Germany, RWE Innogy is already a leader in this sector.
