Waste water treatment

Screenings, sand, biological and chemical impurities – the modern sewage treatment plants of RWE clean waste water of all undesirable constituents prior to reintroducing it into the water cycle. The treatment is carried out according to accepted rules of technology and in compliance with statutory provisions. RWE is continually improving the mechanical, biological and chemical clarification processes used today.

Exploiting the potential

Moreover, in a special research project, RWE engineers are working on sewage sludge disintegration, an innovative process aimed at increasing electricity generation by sewage treatment plants and reducing the sludge quantities produced. A modern monitoring management system today assists RWE in recognizing and tapping further optimization potential in waste water treatment. It is not only innovative filtration processes and lower energy consumption but also the careful handling of sewage sludge that has untapped potential.
