RE GmbH provides consultancy and engineering services in the exploration and mining of lignite, coal and other minerals, mine site rehabilitation, ground water and environmental management, as well as electricity generation from thermal and nuclear power plants.
RE GmbH, based in Cologne, is a global consulting company of the German RWE Group, with strong market positions in electricity generation, lignite mining, and oil and gas production.
More than 40 years ago, RE was formed as a consulting subsidiary of Rheinbraun, the world's biggest lignite miner, under the name Rheinbraun Engineering. The portfolio of RE's expertise and fields of activities expanded in step with the evolution of Rheinbraun into today's RWE Power.
Besides lignite mining, it now also encompasses thermal and nuclear power generation, groundwater control and mine site rehabilitation and, through the incorporation of its former sister company UEB-Uranerzbergbau, experience in hard rock mining of metals and uranium.
As opencast mining specialists, the consultants at RE are uniquely positioned to advise on the optimisation of the entire electricity generation chain from mime to power plant.
