50 years of expertise, passion and willpower

Today

Mid-2015 our new company name RWE Technology International is born (merger of RE GmbH & RWE Technology).

The subsidized development of renewable energy sources, especially wind and solar power, as well as the political decision to abandon nuclear energy as a result of the nuclear disaster at Fukushima in early 2011 have drastically changed the framework conditions of energy markets worldwide. In addition, there is a growing energy need and demand for energy projects worldwide, especially in emerging markets. These circumstances also influence RWE’s markets, opportunities and customers.

We are proud to be able to advice others in how to successfully plan, realize and operate energy infrastructure.

It all begins in 1965

Naturally we focused on technical consulting within our core knowledge lignite mining.

Services are provided in oil sand/oil shale, iron ore, uranium and phosphate mining. Which led to another re-naming in Rheinbraun Consulting GmbH.

Extensive consulting, e.g. for EGAT in Thailand, for PPC in Greece and for NLC in India, brought full customer satisfaction, which thereby became a trade mark of the company. Due to these successes, offices were opened in Canada and Australia which operated as representative offices in the regions, established and maintained contacts and initiated new contracts. In 1988 we again became a new name Rheinbraun Engineering und Wasser GmbH (RE).

The era brought also several far-reaching changes for RE. The merger of Rheinbraun with RWE resulted particularly in the large-scale implementation of savings over several years. Comprehensive savings on personnel and other areas were the biggest challenges here. The merger resulted in the consolidation of RE competencies in power plant consultancy and surveys of the corresponding mines.

A continuously increasing world population, economic growth in the emerging markets and backlog demand in many countries will continue to raise the demand for resources to be used as raw materials or for energy production. This is, though interrupted for some time by the economic crisis, the overall trend. Against this backdrop, the consulting activities of RWE's experts on behalf of mining and energy companies all over the world will continue to be of great importance.

In 2002 the Uranerzbergbau GmbH (UEB-Consulting) is merged into RE.

In 2004 the company acronym “RE” becomes the official company name RE GmbH. From now on, also the power generation experience from RWE affiliates RWE npower, RWE Power and RWE Technology is marketed worldwide. In 2010, RE GmbH starts to market RWE’s expertise exclusively under the brand name RWE Power International.
