Inspection Management – Plant databases: Three dimensional plant asset register (PAR-3d)
RWE Power International has developed a plant database using the three dimensional plant asset register (PAR-3d) to control NDE activity. The database can be used to record information, calibration details and movement of NDE equipment; to record the work flow and progress of NDE inspections; and to record plant information and history.
The three dimensional plant asset register (PAR-3d) is a facilities management system designed to address the specific plant history and information retrieval requirements of the power industry. It is a specially constructed database that interacts between plant information, CAD drawings and bespoke software, an essential tool to control NDE activity.
This fully relational interactive database allows the user to view the complete power station pipework system before drilling down to a precise area of plant. Welds and other plant items can then be viewed in detail and a dropdown menu allows the user to obtain access to the complete weld/ plant history including NDE and metallurgical reports.
PAR-3d is built on the powerful ArTrA platform that runs either as a stand alone product or as an enterprise version for large projects. Drawings, inspection records and plant details can be sorted, searched for, and found at the click of a button.
The benefits of using RWE Power International’s plant database include:
- PAR-3d uses a NavisWorks engine and so has the ability to extract graphics and the associated design data from all the leading 3D CAD packages.
RWE Power International can provide a project plan which would include:
- requirements analysis
- the ability to upload additional information and data to the model
- conversion of 2D and 3D geo-spatial graphic models testing and verification to meet customer requirements
