Generation Aggregates – Materials handling
Our secondary aggregate, ash, is composed of inorganic material with a small proportion of carbon particulate resulting from incomplete combustion of the parent fuel, coal. RWE Power International offers you advice and guidance through the process of handling and utilising our Coal Combustion Products (CCP’s).
Pulverised Fuel Ash (PFA)
PFA is extracted from flue gases discharged from combustion systems by electrostatic and mechanical processes. PFA has no currently known eco-toxic effects in existing patterns of production, handling, storage and use.

Furnace Bottom Ash
FBA is extracted from the combustion systems by a hydraulic process. FBA has no currently known eco-toxic effects in existing patterns of production, handling, storage and use.

As well as our Material Safety Data Sheets, we can also provide specific technical data for the ash from each of our coal-fired power plants.
Please contact us if you would like to request this information.
We have preregistered our ash under the Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (REACH) programme. Further information can be found on the UKQAA website.
