That's how the new company emerged
The European generation activities of the RWE Group were combined under the umbrella of RWE Generation SE on January 1st 2013. In Germany, the power stations of the Hard Coal/Gas segment including the Essen-Karnap waste-to-energy plant were spun off by RWE Power AG to RWE Generation SE. The other conventional generation activities have remained with their respective companies, i.e. with RWE Power in Germany (this applies to all German lignite-fired and nuclear power plants), with RWE npower in the UK, with Essent’s generating companies in the Netherlands and with the Turkish generating company RTG. The plants are still run by the same qualified operating and supervisory staff. Responsibility for the overall management of all conventional European generation activities, however, now lies with RWE Generation SE. This stronger international dovetailing allows us to make even better use of our innovative power and our recognised high know-how that is reflected by numerous references of business partners.
