This initial layout for Rowantree is a design optimised from a technology perspective. The factors taken into account are:
- general wind flow within the area
- wind flow across the site
- site topography in relation to wind flow
- steepness of slope in terms of placing turbines on the site
- optimum energy capture and consequently energy yield.
The next stage in the design process will be to apply the environmental constraints identified as a result of the studies currently being undertaken. This will include cultural heritage, ornithology, ecology, hydrology, geology and access. These elements will be fed into Consultation Layout 2.
