Public Consultation

RWE npower renewables ensured local people had the opportunity to have questions answered and ideas or suggestions addressed, before the design of the wind farm was completed and the planning application submitted to North Devon Council in 2006.

A public consultation process took place to:

  • Provide background information about RWE npower renewables and wind energy
  • Describe our proposals for the Batsworthy Cross Wind Farm site and outline the potential environmental effects associated with the development
  • Encourage comments, suggestions and feedback on the proposal
  • Provide information on the consultation process

As part of this public consultation stage,  in 2005 RWE npower renewables sent an informative newsletter to local residents about the proposal as well as wider issues, such as climate change and energy efficiency, which are relevant to renewable energy debate.

In addition to the newsletter, RWE npower renewables hosted public exhibitions. Friends of the Earth as well as npower's Energy Efficiency Services team were on hand to give people the chance to learn more about climate change, renewable energy and energy efficiency.

The exhibition was a huge success, and despite the cold and snowy weather around 300 people attended over the weekend.
