Climate Cops

Our Climate Cops programme helps schools across the UK become greener and more sustainable. As part of the programme, we give schools green makeovers and free energy audits by trained professionals. They also get expert advice on how to lower their carbon emissions, along with funding for energy efficiency and microgeneration projects.

Above all, the programme is designed to show young people how they can take the lead and set a greener example, at school and at home. We offer free teaching resources for 4-7, 7-11 and 11-14 year olds, and have developed an interactive web site.

Climate Cops follows the Government’s National Framework for Sustainable Schools, which identifies the curriculum, campus and community as key areas of a school’s sustainable development plans.

20,000 reasons to celebrate

In July 2009 we celebrated an important milestone - 20,000 students have now graduated from our Climate Cop Academy since the programme was launched in November 2007, and are now saving energy at school and at home.

Award-winning

In 2008, our Climate Cops programme won:

  • The IVCA Clarion - Climate Change Communication Award
  • The Green Organisation - A ‘Gold’ Green Apple Award
  • The Utility Industry Achievement - Environment Award
