Green Fingers
Our Green Fingers campaign is helping 4-7 year olds learn about the potential of renewable energy through the science of gardening. Schools from across the UK had the chance to win one of 50 greenhouses with a solar powered heating system. They also received gardening kits for the children.
All schools across the UK are able to access our online Green Fingers curriculum-based resources with tailored lesson plans and interactive activities about how the earth’s natural energy can be harnessed to help things grow.
Green Fingers was launched in February 2009 by TV's Zoe Salmon. Commenting on the initiative, Zoe said: "Getting to grips with natural and renewable energy has never been more pressing, and we need children to understand the science so they can help make changes in the future. npower’s Green Fingers initiative is such a stimulating and innovative way to teach youngsters about renewable energy."
"We’re all thrilled with our new eco-friendly greenhouse! It’s great to see the children learn to love gardening from a young age, and npower’s Green Fingers initiative is such a stimulating and innovative way to teach youngsters about renewable energy." St Hild’s College CE Aided Primary School
