Inauguration
Knabs Ridge Wind Farm was officially opened on 11 November 2008 by The Mayor of Harrogate, Councillor John Fox and the Town Crier Nancy Buckle announced the wind farm fully operational.

Three children from local schools who were the winners of drawing competitions organised by the Centre for Research, Education and Training in Energy (CREATE) also attended and were presented with their winning pictures of wind turbines. Clare Wilson, Regional Development Manager at npower renewables said, "It is fantastic to see Knabs Ridge wind farm fully operational and to celebrate this positive step forward for renewable energy in North Yorkshire."
Councillor John Fox, Mayor of Harrogate said, "The opening of Knabs Ridge Wind Farm marked a great day for Harrogate and it was good to see many local and regional organisations that were involved with the project attend the inauguration event."
Henning von Barsewisch, Managing Director, REpower UK The 2 megawatt turbines comprise a 58 metre (m) tower with a 70 m rotor diameter and were manufactured by REpower Systems based in Germany. Henning von Barsewisch, Managing Director at REpower UK said, "REpower UK installed its 100th turbine at Knabs Ridge so it was great to see this wind farm completed and to attend the opening event."
