The Hollies

Onshore-Sites in Great Britain

Construction at The Hollies, the first wind farm in npower renewables' East of England region, is now complete.

Now fully operational both turbines will produce enough green energy to meet the equivalent annual electricity needs of some 1,300 homes each year. With a tip height of 91 metres, the turbines are capable of generating 1.3 megawatts each giving the site a maximum combined power of up to 2.6 megawatts.

Further still, because this electricity comes from a renewable source, the scheme helps to offset the emission of carbon dioxide which would otherwise have been released from the burning of fossil fuels, such as coal, that are used to generate electricity.

The Hollies is located near Skegness in Lincolnshire and the project, developed by the East of England npower renewables team and landowner Tim Spencer, received consent in August 2005 to the delight of both parties.

The site is ideal for a wind farm as it has excellent wind speed and is outside all national and local designations for landscape and ecology.
