Our staff in the community

RWE npower renewables is firmly committed to encouraging its employees to get involved in supporting their local community. Our employees have a variety of skills and knowledge and we recognise the valuable contribution that each of them can make. This is why we operate a number of schemes to support their involvement in their local communities.

Our £4£ match funding scheme matches the contribution our employees make through their fundraising efforts. In 2010 our staff raised in excess of £16,000 for causes that matter to them. RWE npower renewables matched these donations pound for pound making a total contribution of £32,000 to a variety of local and national charities.

Everyone is encouaged to take time out during work hours to get involved in team volunteering projects. Getting out into the local community is a fantastic way for us to build sustainable relationships with local charities and community organisations.

Everyone benefits: the local community gains access to a diverse range of skills and knowledge held by our staff, whilst employees get the chance to build on existing skills, develop new ones and get to know each other better in a new and challenging environment.

In 2010 our staff contributed more than 1,700 hours volunteering in their own time with organisations in their local communities. We’re very proud of this commitment so we offer a Community Volunteer Award programme which enables staff who volunteer in their own time to access awards of up to £500 a year for the community group they work with.
