Match funding in action

Monster Bike and Hike
In 2011, twenty four energetic RWE npower renewables employees took part in a 73 mile sponsored bike and hike in aid of Maggie's Cancer Care Centres.
Their fundraising efforts were extremely impressive bringing in more than £8,000. This sum was then match funded by the company to make a total donation of over £16,000 to help Maggie's provide more places for people to turn to for help with any of the problems, small or large, associated with cancer.
The gruelling cycle and trek started at Fort William in the Scottish Highlands, through to Inverness covering 73 miles along the Glen Way. The RWE npower renewables team, which was made up of staff from all areas of the business based in Scotland, Wales and England, were delighted to cross the finish line and raise so much money for such a good cause. The team were also backed by a further 4 members of staff who formed an all important back up team.
One team member said afterwards; "It was hard work but we all rallied each other along and it was worth all the pain of the blisters to raise so much money for Maggies. I enjoyed it so much I've even signed up to do it again."
