Turkmenistan

In 2009, RWE Dea has been awarded the exploration licence Block 23, which is located in the south-eastern region of the Caspian Sea, immediately off the Turkmenian coast. The licence area comprises about 940 square kilometres.

In the initial exploration phase, an environmental study has been carried out in 2010. Taking account of 2D material already available, a 3D seismic test as well as an exploration well are then to be conducted across main parts of the licence area.
