RWE Dea in Egypt
In 1999, RWE Dea took over assets from Deminex in Egypt, which have been operating since 1974. Thus, the company can look back on more than three decades of oil production in the Gulf of Suez.
RWE Dea has set out to strengthen and expand its position in Egypt as one of its core regions and to create a strong an reliable platform for a growing commitment in this country.
In Egypt RWE Dea has a total of 12 onshore and offshore concessions, across a concession area of about 19,000 square kilometres.
Social and cultural responsibility
Reflecting its social and cultural responsibility in the countries where RWE Dea is operating, the company is engaged with a number of local and international institutions in Egypt:
- German GTZ (Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit)
- USAID-funded Takamol
- National Council for Childhood and Motherhood (under the auspices of the First Lady Susan Mubarak)
Under the slogan “How to make less fortunate children a little bit happier” the company is supporting primary schools in the poorer areas of Greater Cairo and also in local communities in the Nile Delta where RWE Dea is operating.
