Farr Hall
Strathnairn Community Benefit Fund has worked hard to maximise the fund they manage to make the biggest difference to their community. The Boleskine Camanachd (Shinty Club), the Mid-lairgs Football Club and a local soccer club are due to benefit from a fabulous new changing facility which is being constructed adjacent to Farr Hall.
A £70,000 donation from the Strathnain Community Benefit Fund has helped to secure over £110,000 of extra funding to make this project possible. Additional funding applications to Highland 2007, HIE, Sportscotland and the Highland Energy Company were all successful.
At the moment, teams playing on the shinty and football pitches get changed inside the hall, which is unsatisfactory for the players, the hall management and other hall users as it was never designed for this kind of use.
Now players of all ages can look forward to changing in comfort, as the new facility will comprise separate areas for two teams with showers, toilets and changing areas. The pitches will be eligible to hold important league finals and other members of the community can enjoy undisturbed use of their hall.
David Henderson, a member of the Farr Hall Management Committee, said: “We are delighted with the substantial contribution from the Strathnairn Community Benefit Fund, not only has it helped to make the project possible but it has also enabled us to make sure it is a sustainable development.
“It is fantastic to see the changing facilities finally taking shape. It will greatly benefit everyone using the hall. We have also been able to invest in an air source heat pump system which means the primary source of heating and hot water for the facilities will greatly reduce our CO2 emissions.”
