Copenhagen event of the Federation of German Industries
On 15 December 2009, Dr. Juergen Grossmann took part in a discussion round entitled “Fostering Climate Protection: Sustainable Business Concepts for Tomorrow” at the Copenhagen UN Climate Conference. The event was hosted by the Federation of German Industries (BDI). The CEO of RWE AG called for a world-wide emissions trading scheme, a global market for carbon, a strenghtened Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and a level playing field to be the basis of a future global climate protection scheme. He highlighted e-mobility, energy storage and the use of biomass in power generation as key issues for the future. more

One of the most important environmental events of our time, the UN Climate Summit in Copenhagen, is getting underway on Monday, 7 December 2009. For RWE, the overall aim is to establish a global carbon trading scheme which will provide security for long-term investment planning for European companies. Decision-makers face the task of setting up a post-Kyoto climate protection agreement which includes long-term emission reduction aims and sets out market-based instruments for climate protection activities. Both elements will provide the basis for reducing CO2 emissions to two tons per capita on a global scale. more
