As Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Hans Buenting (43) is responsible for the finance and financial control aspects of the new company. Buenting entered the service of the Group in 1995, in the financial control section of RWE Energie. In 2000, he moved over to RWE Trading as Head of Risk Control and Reporting. In this capacity, he made a significant contribution towards setting up and structuring both RWE’s trading company and its activities. Since the start of 2005, Hans Buenting has been in charge of Group Risk Management within the Group Center.
In his role as Chief Operating Officer (COO), Kevin McCullough (42) is responsible for all of the company’s on- and offshore wind activities. He worked for 15 years in a number of power plant operations positions for National Power in the UK, before spending three years in the US for American National Power. In late 2000, he returned to the UK business working initially on the integration of RWE npower’s retail business before becoming Managing Director of Renewables. Currently, Kevin McCullough is Managing Director for New Plant Development and Construction at RWE npower.
Further management positions will be put in place shortly.
RWE Innogy will be launched on 1 February 2008 as the RWE management company for renewables. RWE intends to invest at least €1 billion per year from 2008 onwards in expanding its renewables activities. These will be subject to the same profitability requirements as other companies of the Group. This growth will be in line with the political objectives for renewables set at both national and EU level. The company will be headquartered in Essen, Germany.
