Construction update - July 2008
Offshore construction work progress
- The final monopile and yellow transition piece were installed, bringing to an end the foundation installation phase of the wind farm construction. Work started on the piling of the first foundation at the end of April 2008 and was completed within the planned three months' time frame.
Each foundation is a steel monopile, up to 40m long, 4.7m wide and topped with a yellow transition piece.
- Scour protection work, to protect the foundations, continued to be carried out.
Onshore construction work progress
Construction of the substation at Towyn progressed with mechanical erection of the electrical equipment.
Cable pulling and installation were completed.
Beach works, including the construction of underground transition pits, were completed. The pits were ready to receive the offshore cabling.

Offshore construction work progress
The components for the turbines continued to arrive at Mostyn Dock in preparation for their installation.
Jack-up barge Lisa-A, which was used to erect the wind turbines, arrived at Mostyn Dock.
AMT Explorer laid cables from the beach area at Towyn to 3 of the recently installed foundations.
Onshore construction work progress- Work on the overhead line progressed well.
Work at the electricity substation at Towyn continued.
