Offshore construction work progress

 

  • The components for 17 wind turbines arrived at Mostyn Dock

  • Jack-up barge Lisa-A undertook sea trials in preparation for installation of the wind turbines.

  • Turbine installation vessel KS Titan 1, which was to join Lisa-A installing wind turbines at the Rhyl Flats site, was lost in the Atlantic during transit from the USA to North Wales in late October 2008.

  • AMTExplorer completed installation of the 3 export cables from the beach area at Towyn to 3 of the recently installed foundations.

  • Scour protection work was completed.

  • The loss of the turbine installation vessel KS Titan 1 and poor weather conditions meant that offshore construction works at the Rhyl Flats Offshore Wind Farm site were suspended in November 2008. (Suspension of such works was required anyway from mid-December 2008 until the end of March 2009 by the conditions of the project's consent.)

  • Work on the overhead line was completed.

  • Construction of the substation buildings was completed.
