German Trainee Programme

We believe that young people are key to our future. We offer traditional internships, thesis-writing opportunities and traineeships in our Essen headquarters for students and graduates at the top of their classes. This programme offers entry into commercial departments and risk management as well as support departments such as HR, IT, Finance, Legal and others. Many trainees successfully move into long-term careers with us.

UK Industrial Placement Scheme

We offer an Industrial Placement Scheme in our Swindon office for students currently enrolled on a sandwich course. This programme generally starts in June each year and runs for 12 months. At the end of their placement year, students are often invited to apply for our Graduate Development Programme and if successful, come back to work for us again after completing their degree.

Applications are taken each year in November and December with assessment centres held in January or early February. Graduate Development Programme

If you’re passionate about the energy sector, enjoy strategic challenges, and yearn to develop solutions in a rapidly changing environment, then the Graduate Development Programme could be the entry point for you.

Each year we select only a handful of the most talented graduates with degrees in mathematics, physics, economics, engineering, business administration or other disciplines directly related to the energy trading business to take part in an 18 month, tailor-made rotational programme. The programme offers you deep insight into the energy supply & trading business by rotating you through 3 six month periods in various business functions. You’ll be given the chance to seek out your own projects and to identify placements that play to your strengths and have the option to work out of the different countries where we operate. If you think like an entrepreneur and are ready to get hands-on, we want to hear from you.

Designed to develop your personal strengths, the programme also offers professional career coaching, expert trainings and the opportunity to participate at various networking events.

IT Graduate Programme

Join the RWE Supply & Trading IT Graduate Programme and take the opportunity to develop your career and skills at the centre of the global energy trading business. We are looking to recruit talented graduates who will work with our team to develop systems and processes across our growing and dynamic business. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to take a hands-on role in implementing software from day one. In addition, you will attend our IT graduate training programme to develop formal skills and qualifications in either Business Analysis, Project Management or Software Engineering.

The scheme is rotational and aims to develop young talent for different areas of our internal IT organisation. By rotating through three different areas over 18 months, graduates will get a well-rounded overview and develop a variety of skills within IT. Rotations are located in Essen and Swindon. There are a number of training, coaching and networking opportunities to complete your on-the-job training.
