Wietze Laboratory

The Wietze Laboratory provides analytical support and consulting for geoscience and production engineering for RWE Dea's domestic and international assets.

The geoscientific services include

• Micropalaeontology and Palynology
• Sedimentology
• Routine Core Analysis

The production engineering services include

• Chemical support of natural gas and crude oil production and storage (e.g. assessment of the respective crude and natural gas qualities, selection of oilfield chemicals)
• Computer-aided simulation of possible corrosion processes as well as scale and gas hydrate formation tendencies. These simulations allow an appropriate selection of material and the application of respective chemical inhibitors.
• Thermodynamic simulation of oil and gas treatment plants using results from oil/ gas analysis under reservoir conditions (PVT analysis)
• CO₂ storage
• Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) with focus on chemical EOR
• Health, Safety and Environment (e.g. measurement of TLVs, preparation of safety data sheets and paperwork/ consulting for transport of dangerous goods)

The Wietze Laboratory has a total workforce of about 35 employees, whereof the majority is engaged in scientific and experimental assignments.
