United Kingdom

The United Kingdom is one of the key regions of RWE Dea's upstream business. Our producing fields and reserves are located close to the key markets of Central Europe and are part of an advanced and sophisticated infrastructure. The short transport routes using pipeline connections to the United Kingdom and the Netherlands are a particularly positive feature.

In the past two years RWE Dea has almost doubled its project acreage in the UK through shares in ten exploration and 21 production licences.

In 2009 RWE Dea acquired the Breagh gas field, one of the largest natural gas fields still to be developed in the Southern North. As operator with a 70% stake we are now intensifying field development with the aim of starting production as early as 2012. At Breagh we are expecting reserves of up to 13 billion m³ of gas.

Further important development projects are Clipper South (RWE Dea is operator with a 50% stake) and Devenick (RWE Dea 11.3%, operator BP). The first gas from Clipper South is expected to flow in late summer 2011. At Devenick the offshore installation of pipeline and facilities will start in 2011, so first gas is planned for mid-2012.

We are seeking to enhance our portfolio by adding exploration prospects, and actively seeking farm-in and acquisition opportunities. We are confident that our business prospects in the United Kingdom are bright, and that our activities will be to the economic benefit of our partners and of the country.
