The RWE & Turcas Denizli Power Plant

The Denizli Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant is the first investment in Turkey by RWE, one of the five leading power and gas companies in Europe. It was built by RWE & Turcas Güney Elektrik Üretim A.Ş. (RWE & Turcas Power Production South PLC), a joint venture between RWE and Turcas, which is one of the experienced and progressive oil, petrochemicals, gas and power companies in Turkey, with shares of 70% and 30% respectively.

In business since 2013, the Denizli Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant is an investment worth more than €500M. Boasting the capacity to supply power to 3 million households, the power plant provides reliable and efficient electricity to the economy of a growing Turkey by accounting for approximately 1.2% of the country’s power production. With a net power generation capacity of 775MW, the power plant plays a key role in the industrial growth and restructuring of Denizli and its surroundings by means of its economical, reliable and high-quality power.

Environmentally friendly facility award

The Denizli Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant ranked first in the field of natural gas in the category of thermal power plants at the ICCI Energy Awards, a sideline of the ICCI 2014 – the 20th International Energy & Environment Fair and Conference, staged for the purpose of supporting the services in and contributions to the energy industry in Turkey and the world. RWE & Turcas was awarded in the same category at the ICCI Energy Awards in 2015.

RWE & Turcas is credited with successful efforts not only in the energy industry but also in the field of environmental protection. The Denizli Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant won the Environmentally Friendly Facility Award at the Turkish Healthy Cities Association’s 2nd Environmentally Friendly Facility Awards in 2014, a competition started in 2013 with the goal of encouraging model enterprises by the Turkish Healthy Cities Association, a trailblazer for healthy urban environments.
