Community invited to information event about proposed Cuckoo Wood Wind Farm

RWE npower renewables will be hosting the first public information event for its proposed Cuckoo Wood Wind Farm on Saturday 28 September 2013.

Studies at the potential site, located 1.5km north-west of St. Michael’s on Wyre, are currently at an early stage. On 7 August the company’s planning application for a meteorological (met) mast to measure wind speed, direction and turbulence at the site, was approved by Wyre Borough Council.

Although studies at the site are on-going, RWE npower renewables is keen to begin consulting with the local community as early as possible in order to keep them informed of its plans and seek their views on the proposed wind farm.

The ‘Meet the Developer Day’ will therefore provide an opportunity to hear about the work completed at the site so far, meet the project team and find out more about RWE npower renewables as a company.

Over 8000 flyers are being distributed to local residents and businesses to advertise the event, the details of which are as follows:

Date: Saturday 28 September 2013
Location: St. Michael’s on Wyre Village Hall, Blackpool Road, St. Michael’s on Wyre, Lancashire, PR3 0UA
Time: Drop in anytime between 10am - 3pm

Alice Byrne, from RWE npower renewables, said: “As a responsible developer, we are keen to build a relationship with the local community and to consult them throughout the development of our plans. I would therefore like to take this opportunity to encourage as many people as possible to ‘drop in’ during the day.

“Not only will you be able to find out more about the proposed scheme, but you will also hear about the potential economic and community benefits associated with a wind farm such as Cuckoo Wood.

“This event is one of a number of ways in which we plan to keep the community updated and seek their feedback. We anticipate that we will hold a public exhibition early next year, where a scheme design will be on display together with an update on our studies at the site.”
