Yet another record-breaking season for RWE npower renewables-sponsored Kingussie Shinty Club but this season all the accolades are not for the seniors but for the Kingussie Primary School team who have scooped an incredible 10 trophies making them the most successful Scottish primary school shinty team ever.
Following in the footsteps of their successful elders, the primary school team, a squad of 15 boys aged from 9 to 12 years, play in the Scottish Primary School Shinty League and have won the 10 trophies over the course of this season.
They have won the following accolades: The Invertromie Cup; McKay Cup Player of the Match; National First Shinty Champions; North of Scotland First Shinty Champions; National Tulloch League Champions; Oban 6-A-Sides Champions; Williamson Cup; MacKintosh Cup; Gergask Quaich; and finally the Shinty World Cup.

The record breaking success of the club as a whole over the past decades is an inspiration to these youngsters and their outstanding performance highlights that the club’s policy of developing the sport at grass roots level is proving successful. The support provided by RWE npower renewables has enabled us to provide a hub for the local community in the form of club facilities and team kit.”

RWE npower renewables has sponsored Kingussie Shinty Club for the past three seasons, starting in May 2010. The deal includes first team shirt sponsorship, pitch-side advertising at home games for the duration of the season, assistance with the club’s running costs, and has also helped the club to buy their own home ground The Dell.
