RWE npower renewables is predicting plenty of wind to get the showdown of the British Kitesurfing Association’s (BKSA) national tour which is being held at Westward Ho! this week off to a flying start.
Making use of their sophisticated weather forecasting facilities which includes data from the Met Office, the company’s UK wind control centre team have found that strong breezes, winds as high as 25 – 30 mph, are expected mid week with winds of 8-12 mph and above expected at times during the rest of the week.
The Kitetastic Finals Week at Westward Ho!, near Barnstaple, which are sponsored by RWE npower, will involve over 100 competitors throughout the week long event which began on Sunday Oct 14th and will finish with the BKSA British Champions being crowned at a special prize giving evening on Saturday 20 October.
The competition will feature top female and male kitesurfers who will compete in the water in freestyle, race and wave events, whilst on the beach competitors will take part in freestyle kite landboard and kite buggy competitions.
RWE npower renewables uses a range of high tech equipment to forecast and monitor weather conditions from wind speeds and rain through to temperature, snow and even lightning, to plan work and to ensure the safety of its staff.
