About RWE npower
RWE npower, part of the RWE Group, is a leading integrated UK energy company. We supply gas and electricity to residential and business customers and operate and manage a portfolio of flexible low-cost coal, oil and gas-fired power stations. We also manage a portfolio of cogeneration plant and, through RWE Power International, we sell our expertise in power generation to third parties.
Investment in new power stations
It is estimated that the UK is likely to need between 15-25GW of new generating capacity by 2020. We’ve embarked upon a large scale building programme of new generation infrastructure and are planning new-build investments amounting to billions of pounds over the next ten years.
Nuclear power
Building new nuclear power stations is a key part of our commitment to meet the UK’s energy needs and to reduce carbon dioxide intensity. We have formed a joint venture, Horizon Nuclear Power, with E.ON UK to develop around 6GW of new nuclear capacity in the UK.
