Tailwind for the energy transition: With a workforce of around 1,400 employees, the company specialises in developing, constructing and operating onshore wind turbines, solar farms as well as battery storage systems. The focus regions are Europe and Australia.

RWE Offshore Wind is a global energy company for sustainable electricity generation based on offshore wind power. The company’s international focus is on Europe, USA and selected markets in Asia. Over the past 20 years, RWE has developed unique expertise in the offshore industry, as its 19 operating wind farms demonstrate. Moreover, this expertise covers the entire value chain from project conceptualisation and development, through to construction, operation and maintenance of offshore wind farms. RWE’s share of these power plants amounts to 3.3 gigawatts in total. RWE Offshore Wind operates as a direct subsidiary of RWE AG. RWE Clean Energy, LLC, is a top tier renewable energy company in the United States. With more than 15 years in the U.S. renewables business and a team of about 1,500 employees, the company has an outstanding track record in developing, constructing and operating renewable energy facilities. RWE Clean Energy’s strong position in renewable energy is a result of combining RWE Renewables Americas with Con Edison Clean Energy Businesses, acquired by RWE in March 2023. 

RWE Supply & Trading is the interface between RWE and the energy markets around the world. Approximately 2,000 employees from over 70 different countries trade electricity, gas, commodities, and CO₂ emission allowances. Accurate market analyses and a high degree of customer centricity enable them to create innovative energy supply solutions as well as risk management concepts for industrial operations. The trading entity also ensures the commercial optimisation of RWE’s power plant dispatch and markets electricity from RWE.

With its power plants in Germany, the UK and the Netherlands, the approximately 3,000 employees of RWE Generation produce electricity primarily from gas, hydropower and biomass. The company ranks second in Europe with its gas-fired power plants. The RWE Group bundles its hydrogen activities in RWE Generation. RWE is driving forward more than 30 projects in the field of hydrogen with partners from industry and science.

RWE Power AG, with headquarters in Essen, Germany, is a company of the RWE Group. Its business is lignite-based power generation. The Company employs about 8.800 people and operates three opencast lignite mines in the Rhineland area. Lignite production is predominantly used for electricity generation in the Company’s own power stations with a capacity to supply 8 gigawatts of electricity. But is also processed to make solid fuels and filter materials. In addition, RWE Power manages the decommissioning and dismantling of RWE’s nuclear facilities.
