In the segments of onshore wind and solar, RWE Renewables Europe & Australia is among the largest electricity producers in Europe and has become a key player in the field of renewables. With its comprehensive „Growing Green“ investment and growth strategy, RWE is expanding green generation capacity – to more than 65 gigawatts by 2030.

To this end, RWE is investing €55 billion between 2024 and 2030. RWE Renewables Europe & Australia is focusing on its core markets in Europe and Australia. The project pipeline is well filled in all technologies: battery storage, onshore wind power and solar energy.

Wind and solar energy XXL: In Sweden, we already operate one of the largest onshore wind farms in Europe, in Australia we run one of the largest solar farms in the country. 

In addition, the company is testing innovative and promising technologies at various locations. Since 2022, a floating photovoltaics plant has been generating green electricity. The plant comprises around 13,400 solar modules on a cooling water lake in the Dutch province of Northern Brabant. In Germany, RWE Renewables Europe & Australia has successfully commissioned a photovoltaics plant with attached battery storage – RWE’s first system of its kind in Europe. Furthermore, the company is preparing to construct an agri-photovoltaics system in partnership with a research institute. 

In order to maintain the high pace of expansion and meet the various technological requirements to an even better extent, the RWE subsidiary formerly known as RWE Renewables GmbH has separated up the business segments. The global offshore segment is covered by a separate subsidiary, RWE Offshore Wind GmbH.
