As an affiliate of RWE Supply & Trading GmbH, the globally active commercial hub of international renewable energy company RWE AG, RWETA boasts an extensive cross-commodity trading and origination mandate and access to world class energy trading infrastructure and expertise. With the America's being a core growth region for the RWE Group, RWETA has ambitious expansion plans and seeks highly motivated and experienced professionals to join the NYC-based team.  

Responsibilities 

  • Managing a credit portfolio focusing primarily on energy (pipelines, utilities, oil/gas producers and IPPs) and trading companies headquartered in the Americas.
  • Proactively managing credit risks and minimizing credit losses while considering liquidity requirements of the RWE Group.
  • Ensuring appropriate negotiation of credit terms for the business being undertaken, with a sound working knowledge of different contracts including ISDAs with CSAs (inc First Liens) NAESB, and EEIs.
  • Preparing succinct and high-quality credit analysis reports, including risk/reward decisions.  
  • Evaluation of transaction specific characteristics, based on exposure, tenor, collateral and deal structure vis a vis RWE policy.
  • Partnering with the Front Office to understand all risks and trading strategies. Actively challenge and debate assumptions and underlying risk to ensure timely and appropriate response to business requirements. Recommending innovative risk mitigation solutions, where appropriate.
  • Keeping abreast of current trends and market developments in areas of expertise.
  • Maintaining a consistent interface cross-functionally both within RWETA and globally across the wider RWE organization, including colleagues in Europe, Singapore and the US. 
  • Understanding and adherence to RWE credit and finance policies, systems and processes.

Your powerful skills

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance or economics or similar business fields
  • Master’s degree is a plus

Experience

  • Minimum 7+ years in Credit Risk Management with high focus on quality counterparty analysis and deep understanding of liquidity-credit impact. Banking or international trading company experience is highly desirable.

Skills

  • Solid understanding of the North American domestic energy markets (gas & power), both physical and financial, as well as the fundamental factors and economics that drive the markets
  • Sound knowledge of the methods of credit risk analysis, balance sheet analysis and cash flow analysis
  • Experience with special credit situations such as first lien or IPP counterparties
  • Good working knowledge of ISDAs, EEIs, NASBs and similar legal contracts for energy trading
  • Strong organization skills, able to meet tight deadlines and coordinate multiple tasks
  • Entrepreneurial thinking and sense of responsibility
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate and manage conflicts
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
