The joint venture of RWE and TURCAS accepted the challenge to construct and operate a 775 MW gas-fired combined-cycle power plant in Honaz, Denizli. The aim of this cooperation, of 70% RWE and 30% Turcas starting in 2010, is to ensure an environmentally friendly and safe operation, and to make a substantial contribution towards the long-term development of Denizli and the region.
The partnership of two highly qualified companies ensured that the new power plant is designed according to modern, innovative and environmentally friendly international standards, while at the same time fulfilling the specific requirements of the Turkish energy market.
The construction site for the power plant is located 2 kilometers north of the Kaklık and to the east of the developing industrial zone in the area. Denizli CCGT power plant started commercial operation in August 2013. This state-of-the-art CCGT power plant, with an efficiency rate around 56 percent, makes a significant contribution to security of electricity supply in Turkey.

Shell & Turcas Petrol, the JV company Turcas established with The Shell Company of Turkey Ltd. to operate in the fuel retail and lubricants market, is one the largest companies in Turkey. Shell & Turcas operates a nationwide network of 1,017 Shell branded fuel stations and recorded a turnover of TRL 16,8 billion in 2016. RWE & Turcas South Power Generation, the JV company Turcas established with the major German utility RWE AG, commissioned one of the largest, most efficient and environment-friendly gas fired combined-cycle power plants of Turkey in the city of Denizli. Turcas also developes geothermal, solar and wind power projects and the company continues to invest in geothermal power plant site at Aydın, under the name of Turcas Kuyucak Geothermal Power Generation.
